West Broad Street Planters

The West Broad Street Planters is one of the original Friends of the Hilltop projects. Originally there were nine concrete planters along West Broad Street. The planters were placed by the Greater Hilltop Community Development Center (GHCDC), which graciously accepted the Friends of the Hilltop offer to plant and maintain its planters. Friends of the Hilltop assumed ownership of these planters when the GHCDC dissolved.

Today, Friends of the Hilltop has 17 planters along West Broad Street. This includes ten new planters placed by Friends of the Hilltop and the seven surviving planters placed by the GHCDC.

Friends of the Hilltop works with neighboring businesses to maintain the planters. With the summer heat, the planters need lots of water to keep even the sun loving and drought tolerant petunias flowering beautifully.
